Choosing the right shelf for your laboratory oven is important for your appropriate experiment. Basically, JEIO TECH has two types of the shelf which are aluminum type and stainless steel type. Looking at the main differences between the two should help highlight which shelf is right for you


Interior Material


The vacuum oven is commonly used in the electrical and electronic fields, such as the manufacturing of PCB circuit boards, biopharmaceuticals, and medical devices. So, it is used to dry samples that have a possibility of explosion when they contact oxygen, a solid medium that needs to block oxygen into it under anaerobic conditions, and samples that are difficult to dry in air pressure due to those dense tissues. For this reason, the vacuum oven's interior was made of stainless steel for drying more effectively in a vacuum state

Shelf Material


Vacuum oven shelves are made mostly of aluminum, which has excellent thermal conductivity. In some cases, however, the shelves are made of stainless steel, such as in medical, pharmaceutical, and food engineering experiments.

JEIO TECH has been providing aluminum shelves of the vacuum oven series for several years however we developed stainless steel shelves in consideration of the market condition for the food engineering and pharmaceutical industry.

    ① You can add an extra shelf that can be placed at the bottom to experiment with more samples same time, and the value of Variation and Fluctuation may increase slightly.

    ② The shelf and shelf spacer are included as bundled accessories, and you can purchase when need to replace them.

    ③ For OV4-65 models, 2 upper shelves are basic provided.

Although the temperature specifications of stainless steel shelves in terms of thermal conductivity are less efficient than aluminum shelves, some researchers prefer stainless steel shelves that can be conveniently cleaned and disinfected because pharmaceutical researchers consider cleanliness a more important point than temperature specifications.

Each term refers to the instrument’s ability to measure or maintain temperature with a certain precision against a particular reference point by a Temperature Sensor (as Figure 1). According to DIN 12880, the temperature should be measured in three horizontal levels which are composed of 9 measuring points in each level, equally distributed across the inner chamber (see Figure 2). This requirement also applies, if a level is hindered by assemblies in the working chamber.

As a result, the aluminum shelf is required when thermal conductivity is considered the most in order to manage temperature uniformity and stability. The stainless steel shelf is required when excellent corrosion resistance is considered the most to maintain highly perishable samples.
