Hello.
We are the JEIO TECH Lab Companion
When working in a laboratory, various control measures are necessary to make laboratories safe and comfortable places. From chemical fumes and dust to toxic compounds, laboratories reap a wide array of safety hazards, which is why it is very vital to understand the significance of lab safety. Besides, one small dust can directly impact the equipment and its users as well as any research carried out in the laboratories. To prevent those cases, it is necessary to implement ventilation in any workplace. Large permanent workplaces such as factories will usually have a fixed extraction system set up. However, smaller workshops or laboratories may have a limited workspace.
Let’s take a closer look at the optimized configuration of our extractors according to the usage environment.
What is the Mobile Fume Extractor
Mobile Fume Extractor is laboratory equipment that is designed to extract fumes and dust and remove harmful particulates at the source, simply by bringing the extractor with you and setting it up wherever you’re carrying out the work such as Medical, Veterinary, dentistry, Pharmaceutical purposes, and educational purposes. Let’s take a closer look at the optimized configuration of our extractors according to the usage environment
I. How to Choose the Right Filter
There are two types of filters (Carbon filters & Particulate Filters) that could be required in a fume hood and selecting the correct type of filters for your application is imperative to protect yourself and your equipment from any hazardous substances in the air. You could use your filters more effectively by installing one or both depending on the purpose.

Lab Companion’s Filter is an excellent amorphous adsorbent with high surface area, has fine pores, and is manufactured through a multi-level impregnation process. We have five main filters suitable depending on the chemical used and laboratory environment. For the built-in Pre-Filter, the particle is filtered first to extend the life of the other filter and up to 2 filters(option) can be installed depending on the material used. You may refer to the below table for selecting appropriate filters for each purpose.
Filter |
Description |
Complex Carbon |
Filters a wide range of chemicals, including acid, ammonia, and aldehyde. |
Acid |
Filters acid gases such as HCl, HF, H2S, and CH3COOH |
Formaldehyde |
Filters formaldehyde, acete aldehyde, etc. |
Ammonia / Amines |
Filters basic gases such as NH3, (CH3)3N, etc. |
HEPA |
Filters 99.99% of toxic dust and other 0.3 μm particles. |
Pre-Filter |
Primarily filters particles to extend the life of other filters. |

II. How to Choose the Right Arm
Extraction Arms provides ease of use while efficiently and cost-effectively directing contaminates away from the workplace. In order to select the Extraction Arm, you may select the appropriate materials, diameter, and joints according to the physical properties of the fumes and gases used, work type, and working radius.
Lab Companion provides the various size of the Extraction Arm. You can select 2 Joint / 3 Joint and length is determined considering the access radius of the arm. You can also select a size between 50mm and 75mm according to the volume to be subjected to suction. Usually, 75mm size is used for general purposes, on the other hand, 50mm size is more effective for fine work. You can also choose the Single or Dual Arm to maximize the space efficiency.
(※ Fan level could be reduced when the Dual Arm is applied).

III. How to Choose the Right Hood
Hood type should be selected depending on the properties of gas and the diffuse range of fume. We have four types of hoods depending on the shapes and materials according to the nature of the fumes and gases used and work type. It is also composed of chemical resistance using PP and SBC materials. When the emission range of the source is narrow, the Basic Type is suitable but when the emission range of the source is wide, the Dome Type is more effective. When heavy gas is collected, one side of the Square Type is supported on the table and used as a shield. When you apply the Hood Type as compact total hood form, it securely blocks the user's gas inhalation. Lab Companion offers Φ50 Dome Type hood mounted on extraction arm as standard. Ø75 Basic Type hood is provided as an integral part of the extraction arm and you could also select the various hood type depending on the purposes as mentioned below.
|
Basic Type
- When the emission range of the source is narrow.
- When the source can be collected at close range.
|
|
Dome Type
- When the emission range of the source is wide.
- Used for capturing light gas.
- Clear(Styrene-butadiene copolymer)/White(Polypropylene)
|
|
Square Type
- When heavy gas is collected, one side is supported on the table and used as a shield.
- Clear(Styrene-butadiene copolymer)/White(Polypropylene)
|
|
Hood Type
- Compact total hood form, securely blocking the user's gas inhalation.

Additionally, we have a new arm hood system for Ø75 Extraction arm, called "LC Magnet System", to replace easily a dome without any assembly thanks to the magnetic on the connection part of the arm and a dome to the magnetic on the connection part of the arm and dome.
